last day in Bangkok

our last program in Bangkok was visiting Sathiara Dhammasathan. it was located not so far from the hotel we stayed, so after checking out we headed there.

Sathira-Dhammasthan, founded in 1987, is a center and learning community for peace and harmony, providing a variety of programs for people of all ages, genders, and walks of life. It is set in seven acres of trees, with lotus ponds, winding paths and meditative nooks. It is a tiny drop of water, radiating peace and serenity amidst the busy and bustling city of Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. Sathira-Dhammasthan is offered as a second home to all, and has become a center for the community to learn to practice living together in harmony and with compassion, to learn to gracefully and joyfully accept the performance of one’s duty to self, family and the community at large with care, share and respect as the main principles.

a few years back, my sister came to perform vipassana here for 3 days and she bought a cd for py. the cd consisted of songs and animated cartoons for kids to perform accordingly. so, when she was in the real venue seeing people doing the real thing, it was not hard for her to do it and sing along.

perform group massaging

Sathira-Dhammasthan focuses on the “Art of Life” and encourages all kinds of art as both an inner and outer practice and expression of life itself. It is a community where Dhamma becomes the basis and driving force for spiritual development, ensuring that each and every one lives a life that harms neither self nor humanity, be it by words, deeds or harmful thoughts.

we were there half day, practicing along, watching people and kids' performance, looking around and learning so many things from there.

at the entrance when i registered, i didn't see that they didn't allow visitors to take photos. after taking heaps of them, i was asked by a lady where i was from and why i took photos. i said i just took them for my own record and they were not for any benefits. so she told me to go to the office to exchange my ID with a permitted card. with that card, i could take as many photos as i wanted. so, after getting it, i started to walk around and snap some more..

around lunch time, we left for ratchaburi..
